“Blissful Ordinariness”

I love the idea or notion of “Blissful Ordinariness”! To me “Blissful Ordinariness”  is seeing, feeling, the art in everyday life and the activities that take part in everyday life. I personally find a very satisfying amount of satisfaction over making my bed every morning. When I worked on a horse farm I would feel the same satisfaction from doing all of the daily barn chores. Yes, cleaning stalls gave me a blissful feeling!  It is really seeing the art that is a part of the ordinary everyday things that we do. It relates with the therapeutic relationship through the way that the OT listens, hears, observes and engages with the client in order to help them return to the things that they consider to be part of their “Blissful Ordinariness”. It relates with OT’s holistic approach because it is and should be client centered. It should be about working with the client to get back to the art of everyday life or to connect with a new approach at interacting with everyday life in a way that brings joy to the client.
